Q. Who is the call account with and what can you tell me about them?

A. Your call account will be with UDC. UDC is fully owned by ANZ National Bank and has the highest Standard & Poor’s credit rating of any finance company in New Zealand. Furthermore, UDC has over $2 Billion in assets and over $200 Million in equity.

Q. How do I find out the current interest rates for my UDC call account?

A. UDC will send you a monthly statement which shows the current interest rate as well as the interest rates for the previous 3 months. However, you can also click here and be taken to the UDC website.

Q. How is interest calculated?

A. Interest is calculated on your daily balance. Therefore, you earn interest on money even if you may only have it available for a few days.

Q. When is the interest paid?

A. The interest is added to you call account balance at the end of every quarter (being March, June, September and December), or when you withdraw all your funds?

Q. How do I make deposits?

A. You have a variety of options including:

  Bill Payment - those with interest banking can make deposits up to 10pm that day.
  Manual deposit, at your nearest ANZ branch
  Direct debit, by phoning UDC on their 0800 number before 4:30pm on the day you wish to make the deposit.

Q. How do I make withdrawals?

A. You will need to phone UDC on their 0800 number before 4:30pm on the day you wish to make the withdrawal. Please note, for security reasons all funds withdrawn can only be transferred to your predetermined nominated account.

Q. If I withdraw all my funds, does the account get closed?

A. No the account is still open, so you can make future deposits without problem.

Q. Are there any fees associated with operating this account?

A. No. UDC does not charge any transaction, withdrawal or monthly fees. In fact they even supply a 0800 free phone number, so even your telephone calls are free.
